Edward Lara
After being admitted to the California State Bar in 2000, he has spent several years practicing in large prestigious firms in West Los Angeles and a boutique litigation firm in Long Beach, California. Mr. Lara is an experienced business and entertainment attorney and has handled a wide variety of matters involving diverse areas of law, including Intellectual Property, business and commercial law, entertainment, copyright, trademark, employment, and insurance. Through his entertainment practice, Mr. Lara has represented domestic and international film production and distribution companies, screenwriters, cinematographers, concert promoters, recording artists, fashion models, talent agents, and novelists.
Mr. Lara has also handled several contractual disputes for individuals, partnerships, and corporations in several other industries including: real estate development, machine tool manufacturing, tequila distribution, beauty product manufacturing and distribution, restaurant franchising, website development, fashion, skilled nursing and assisted living. Mr. Lara serves as Of Counsel to the Cohen IP Law Group, PC.
Education
Mr. Lara is a year 2000 graduate of Columbia University School of Law in New York City. While at Columbia, Mr. Lara served as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Alex Kozinski of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Lara also served as the Vice President of the Latin American Law Student Association and was a staff editor for both the Columbia Business Law Review and the Columbia Human Rights Law Review.
Mr. Lara graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1997 with a B.A. in Political Science and Sociology. While at Cal, Mr. Lara was a California Alumni Association Leadership Scholar and a Philanthropy Chair with the Mortar Board National Senior Honors Society.
